i remember asking black mamas as a teenager their stance on buying white dolls for this cubs.
each one them said,
in different sentences:
“I won’t be getting my cub no white doll!”
i was a little offended,
because i wondered if black barbie wouldn’t have snow friends,
but as i grew up then i started to get it.
well this snow cub was not for the nonsense at a store about the doll she picked.

A little girl shot down a cashier who questioned her for wanting a doll with a different skin color from her – and became a viral sensation in the process.
South Carolina resident Brandi Benner’s two-year-old daughter, Sophia, recently completed her potty training, going an entire month using the toilet.
As a reward, Brandi and Sophia’s dad Nick let the little girl pick herself out a special prize. Her choice? A new doll.
So, the family headed to the store, Sophia gleefully picked up the doll that she wanted and they headed to the cashiers.
However, they were shocked when, as they were checking out, the cashier appeared to have an issue with Sophia’s choice of doll, which was black.
‘While we were checking out, the cashier asked Sophia if she was going to a birthday party,’ Brandi later recounted on Facebook.
‘We both gave her a blank stare. She then pointed to the doll and asked Sophia if she picked her out for a friend.’
Brandi explained that the doll was a prize for her daughter becoming fully potty trained. The cashier still did not seem satisfied.
‘The woman gave me a puzzled look and turned to Sophia and asked: “Are you sure this is the doll you want, honey?” Sophia finally found her voice and said: “Yes, please!”‘
The cashier still didn’t seem to get it. She then asked the little girl: ‘But she doesn’t look like you. We have lots of other dolls that look more like you.’
Furious, Brandi was ready to give the cashier a piece of her mind when Sophia beat her to it, in the most polite and sweet manner possible.
“Yes, she does. She’s a doctor like I’m a doctor. And I’m a pretty girl and she’s a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?’ Sophia said.
‘Thankfully the cashier decided to drop the issue and just answer: “Oh, that’s nice,”‘ wrote Brandi.
‘This experience just confirmed my belief that we aren’t born with the idea that color matters. Skin comes in different colors just like hair and eyes and every shade is beautiful.’
Brandi’s touching story was picked up on Facebook by the Love What Matters account, where is has gone massively viral.
In less than 24 hours it has been shared more than 15,000 times and racked up over 125,000 likes.
i would have told that chick that her job was to bag my items…
this story was sweet,
but i had to wonder,
if that was a black cub who said that…
Would it have gotten all this hoorah?
it seems like whenever snow animals do something kind,
or “the right thing to do”,
it gets more exposure than it should.
am i wrong for thinking this?

This story is not going to cure racism, I know white people love to self-congradulate for doing stuff like this but it’d be great if we could actually you know…cure racism.
It’s a cute story and I’m glad she decided to buy black however I just I don’t feel the effect that they wanted me to feel. I hate being cynical about this because it’s sweet but it doesn’t really change the nature of what is going on currently.
Okay, I also have a problem with the idea that it’s normal for black kids to actually buy dolls that aren’t black and parents have to force or hunt for their kids black dolls and etc. I remember my mom traveling almost across all of houston just to get the black bratz doll whereas the white ones were easily accessible.
I just find it weird that a cashier is so invested in what someone is purchasing. Who actually cares though? LOL

I feel like this story is a neutral point. It doesn’ really serve any purpose other than to tell a story that could have very well made up. We as black people are underrepresented in all areas of society whereas whites are omnipresent. Respresentation is crucial for young black children who may suffer from self esteem issues due to their blackness. White children don’t neccessacarily suffer from the same issue. I think that this story shows that racism that is a type of indoctrination that a lot of whites undergo from childhood to adulthood.
Your not wrong for thinking that but the thing is we need this to make headlines we need the racist pieces of isht to eat their isht. They need to feel isolated as the world around them and their own ppl around them start to realize that being ra customer is a waste of time and truly makes no sense. The more isolated they feel the more their views start to change. That or they shoot up a church full of black ppl you know the usual when white folk feel backed into a corner. I hope what I said makes sense.
