trouble in paradise?
well allegedly,
oprah and tyler perry are giving each other time out.
why you ask?
well this is the beef they are having via daily mail

They have been the best of friends since meeting fifteen years ago but Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry appear to be on the outs.

A source close to the two Hollywood moguls tells Daily Mail Online that the once practically inseparable pair barely speak to each other now unless it’s regarding business.

Working together on programming for Winfrey’s OWN Network caused the major strain in their friendship.

Perry, 46, has three series on the channel which include the sitcoms For Better or Worse and Love Thy Neighbor – along with the record-breaking drama The Haves and the Have Nots.

‘When Tyler first brought his shows to OWN in 2012, it was a love affair between the two of them.

‘Oprah was very involved in watching Tyler develop them creatively and they even shot promos together with her as Miss Sophia from The Color Purple and he as Madea.

‘But that relationship has soured in the last six months because Oprah finds Tyler difficult to work with and he doesn’t take constructive criticism well at all,’ a source explains.

Things grew tense with the pair late last summer when 62-year-old Winfrey suggested Perry hire some additional script writers to help develop his shows, particularly the top-rated drama The Have and the Have Nots.

She shared with him research from focus groups and the general consensus from executives at the company was that the writing could be ‘improved significantly.’

‘That’s when Oprah finally got to see a side of Tyler she hadn’t experienced yet. He resisted her feedback, the same way he resists the feedback of critics and media people who chastise his work, and became extremely defensive with her.

‘He told her, “Aren’t the shows delivering ratings for the network? Well, then let me do what I do and you can keep your focus group research to yourself”,’ reveals the source.

Winfrey reminded Perry that the reason he approached her about doing a deal at OWN was because he lost his TV deal at TBS

When the former playwright first launched his sitcoms Tyler Perry’s House of Payne (2006) and Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns (2008) at TBS, he scored huge ratings and the network created a new fully-staffed urban division just to manage his programming.

By the time his third sitcom For Better or Worse came around in 2011 – his shows had dipped drastically in the ratings and TBS laid off its entire urban division.

Tyler didn’t leave TBS because he wanted to go to OWN. His deal with TBS wasn’t renewed because his shows had stopped generating ratings and Tyler wouldn’t take network feedback to help save them when they tried to offer it.

‘So when his contract was up, they weren’t interested in re-signing it.

‘Oprah basically had to remind him, “you needed me as much as I needed you when we decided to do this partnership and don’t forget that”,’ tells the source.

The professional squabble caused the two to stop communicating as much personally.

The source adds: ‘Gone were the days of them having long phone conversations and texting late into the night.’

i giggled at “late night texting”.
M7qLxi wonder what those two talk about at 2am.
anyhoo…
am i the only one who could see this happening?
if the following story is true,
is oprah really lying tho?
i detect absolutely no lies from her.
you know i’ve had my complaints about “the haves and have nots” countless times.
i missed two weeks worth of episodes and i may go for a third.
tyler needs a writing team.
point blank period.
i don’t know how many times we all gonna stress this.

lowkey: he also needs to stop writing HAHN like a daily soap.
he can keep hiring fine ass wolves for my review tho.

  1. it’s. Too.Painfull. I deleted all my HAHN episodes and stopped recording. AWFUL. I’M DONE SUFFERING FOR THE SAKE OF SUPPORT.

OTOH, I tried to get my boss into Underground. I SAID IT’S GETTING GOOD! She said “howww?”

    We laughed till we cried.

  2. Here I thought I was the only one confused and lost. Wondering “when did that happen” I never understood how he got out the burning house If he waa sleep and the house already engulfed in flames. Veronica never did get charged with arson did she. All his movies and shows are like that but he has enough one liners that people just forget the 99% that’s a train wreck

    1. And that waa tge fastest custody change without a judge I’ve ever seen. One day Candace is a bad butch..next she suckin a thug nigga duck crying.

  3. I only watch the HAHN and I can admit it is a hot mess and all over the place. Benny, War (sp?), Jeffrey and Wyatt can’t act at all. It’s cringe worthy. Hanna reminds me of Florida from Good Times praying to that picture of White Jesus on her wall in the ghetto to fix things.

Madea wants us to believe that the biggest scandal in Savannah involving the mayor running for governor’s son running over two people occurs, yet the whole cast is oblivious as to what is going on. Jeffrey had a DUI that happened and disappeared. Candace’s mission in life was to locate the guy that stole her money and then that plot disappeared. Candace’s son is in the hospital for multiple days with no guardian. Hanna’s dumb ass didn’t call an ambulance when her grandson passed out; she thought it was a good idea to run the hospital with his lifeless body.

Hanna reminds me of a slave that snitches on other slaves that are planning to escape.

Madea wants us to believe that this whole season takes place within a weekend??

    1. I agree with you. this show is all over the place. with loose end in every sense to where it makes no sense.

  4. thank god that oprah seeing the same thing that we the viewer are seeing. Mr. Perry jumps around way to much for my liking. before you move on to something else. tire up the lose ends before moving to something else.

  5. If Ms. Winfrey sees the flaws, that we all do and is offering to help, and he doesn’t want to listen, then good riddance.

  6. Oh my goodness, he needs writers so badly. There is just so much dead space and wasted opportunities in The Haves and the Have Nots and If Loving You Is Wrong. To be honest, he needs some new directors as well to help with the slow pacing. He should only deliver outlines to the writers and produce the shows because the story lines are fantastic.

  7. The story sounds legit to me. I can see Oprah trying to help Tyler out cause The Have and The Have Not has been a doozy for me. I only saw one episode tbh, but one episode was enough. I miss the old Candace tho.

  8. Tyler Perry is a Virgo and being as such he does not take too kindly to criticism of his work, Virgo’s feel personally assaulted when their work is criticized so I can see this story as 100 percent true. BTW me and Tyler Bday are a day apart so I am speaking from experience LOL. I only seen one episode of the HAHN by way of being over a friend house who was watching it and I thought it was awful from the writing and acting and as long as he has been in the game I thought it should have been a lot better. I have never seen any of his other TV programs even when he was on TBN, only saw the previews but they looked pretty bad as well. Hopefully him a O will patch it up and become good Judy’s again LOL.

  9. Not surprised if this report is true. Writing on the HAHN is lazy and clunky. I give mad props to Tyler — he literally pulled himself up by the bootstraps. But he has to grow and can’t keep using the same formula over and over. I hope he listens to her but these Queens get all up in their feelings…

  10. He needs writers for his shows just like Empire needs writers for theirs! That show is all over the damn place.

  11. I just can’t get into any of Tyler perrys shows and some of his films. I think he should just stick to producing stuff let people who have that real talent for writing, casting and directing do it PLEASE stope being hard headed. He and Oprah produced Precious but had nothing to do with the script or directing and it was Oscar nominated.

There is nothing wrong with being passionate about your creations but if you’re not will to comprise you lose in the end.

    1. I could never get into his stuff either. The only movie of his that I really enjoyed was The Family That Preys Together…but he didn’t need to be in his own film. Worse than Spike Lee! LOL
His TV shows were awful. Meet the Browns and House of Payne were terrible shows.

      1. I agree with both of you lol. The acting on those shows is laughable unfortunately. Even HAHN. I watched like two episodes of that and I can’t. The “9” episode had me rolling, and now it’s my running joke of how the acting is in his productions. lol.

        I will call it…..9
        …lol

  12. I do not know if this story is true, but the timeline of the show definitely has issues. When Veronica told the officer she left her wig with her two days ago, I was blown away. We were seven or eight episodes in and only two days passed. Seriously? I must admit that last night’s episode was good and interesting tho.

    1. I love the show but that’s the biggest pet peeve for me, The episodes drag out what’s meant to be “short” scenes for WAY too long! I hate the fact that he writes the scripts like a daily soap (as Jamari stated). It’s like when you watch an episode, a lot goes on but then in actuality not much goes on at the same time. TP really needs to get it together and speed up the process. And yup Quincy’s sister saved Veronica’s diabolical ass LOL! I was hoping that Veronica walked into that trap *shrugs*
