Michael Sam Is Cut

CUTSAMCUTmichael sam has been cut by the st louis rams.
on lighter news,
another team has 24 hours to get him off waivers.
here is a quick article about it..

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Rams have cut Michael Sam, the first openly gay player drafted by an NFL team.

The 7th-round draft pick has been outspoken and confident as his progress was watched as closely as any rookie in the league. He has been cheered by athletes and celebrities. In the end, the defensive end couldn’t make a team stocked with pass-rushers.

He still can be picked up by another team or make the Rams’ practice squad.

The Rams selected the SEC co-defensive player of the year at Missouri with the 249th overall pick out of 256 overall during May’s draft. Sam came out as gay following his final season at Missouri.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher was proud to have made the landmark pick, but he made clear from the start that he chose Sam because he thought he had the talent to make it.

disgusting-reaction-gifdamn.
apparently he was doing good.
sackin’ johnny manziel the other day.
his teammates apparently seemed comfortable from reports.
i wonder why did they didn’t keep him?
i guess everyone started celebrating too fast?
this is why i wanted to chill.
i wanted to see how this would play out.
sad tho.
hopefully another team will pick him up.
now i wonder if that snow fox is sending out his dating resume?

lowkey: imagine if oprah did that reality show about his road to the nfl?
that would have been a disaster.

  1. I hated to see him being cut, I would have loved to have the first openly gay player play for the rams. The rams are stacked on the d-line and it was an uphill battle to begin with. Ethan Westbrooks beat him out because of his versatility, he can play DE and DT and he is a beast lol! Hopefully Sam will land on someone’s roster because he is a pretty damn good player.

  2. Based on what I’ve read in the media and also based on what I’ve read by The Man and others above, it appears to have been a football decision that Sam was cut by the Rams. That is, he was given a fair shot. Players get cut all the time. It seems possible or likely that he’ll get picked up by another team or play on the practice squad. In understand that to really be considered safe, a player should be one of the 46 and not one of the 53. So more cuts will be made. Stay tuned.

In terms of his waiting to take his shower, there’s no need for that but it was his decision to wait and I respect his decision. Further, I suspect that he did not so wait to take his shower when he played college football and after his teammates knew that he is gay. Different strokes for different folks. Different teammates and different teams for a different decision. The good news appears to be that no Rams official mandated that he wait to take his showers.

  3. Man:

What I said had nothing to do with position. He proved that he can play DE in the NFL, so he’ll be signed as such.

What I was talking about was others teams letting politics outweigh his capabilities.

    1. Gotcha now. I didn’t know what part of my comment you were referring to. By the morning, some gays will be ready to protest if he’s not picked up and actively playing on a roster on Sunday. Team was just too crowded. I don’t know who else could take him. Nothing he’ll just play on the Rams practice squad til another opportunity comes.

      1. There are at least a handful of defensively shitty teams where he could fit into their defense (my Bears for example), but the question is whether players, coaches, front office, and owners will be open enough. And there’s the media playing pushy stage mom…

  4. Players get cut fact, it doesn’t mean they aren’t good. Within the next few days approx 100 players or more will get cut some will get grabbed quickly. The coaches have a puzzle to put together combining new and current players and it’s all about a teams offensive and defensive scheme. With luck Michael will land somewhere else shortly.

    1. 654 players were cut starting after the first pre season game to today. All were “good” players with talent …. No hidden agenda

  5. People will believe this is personal, but it is not. Rams are stacked at Defensive End, which is the only position coaches believe he can play. There was no room for him on THAT team, but he easily will make the practice squad.

    1. It’s not, but if he doesn’t get picked up by another team, that argument might have some validation.

      1. Well what other position can he play? Rams only saw him playing DE and I do too. He is too slow to play as linebacker.

    2. RIGHT ON POINT. He is a one position player and did not adapt to being versatile enough for special teams. It is a football decision and football decision only.

  6. My conclusions:
He probably a lousy player and was recruited him because he was the poster child who can give the team some publicity. But when people stop talking about Michael Sam therefore he wasn’t needed anymore.
    Or
Maybe the team didn’t really feel comfortable around him or they did, but not with his boyfriend peeping through the locker room.

    1. ^a report came out that michael was respectful and would wait to take a shower.
i was actually gonna write about it today.
they also said his teammates didn’t care about his sexuality.
      plus from he preseason games,
      he was doing pretty well.
      who knows.
this all reeks of “fuck shit” once glaad gets up in arms about it.

      1. The ESPN reporter with the story had her contract not renewed and the producer who aired it on indefinite leave.

The story should be from the Browns locker room where 2 weeks ago Drake showered after a practice with Manzeil….. hmmmm!

      2. WHAT? How do you know this one to be true man?

I don’t doubt it one bit. Drake loves Manziel.

  7. Rams defensive line was too deep. So it was always gonna be an uphill climb. It wasn’t the right team for him to get drafted by.

But I have a feeling that politics will prevent another team from taking him, though he has proven he could play in the league.

But if he doesn’t get picked, he might be on the Rams’ practice squad (can practice but cannot play).

    1. ^sounds about right.
      he apparently was doing good,
but I guess good wasn’t good enough.
im sure this will only make him a strong person and baller wolf in the end.
