Meet The New Bobby Brown

400fullno it is not chris brown silly.
they casted “bobby brown” for the new whitney lifetime biopic.
i think they made a good choice…

article-0-1FA451D300000578-417_306x559everyone meet arlen escarpeta.
he is a 33 year old actor who has starred in a couple movies thus far.
one i remember being the “friday the 13th”.
i think he died.
the movie was absolutely terrible either way.
this is him outside the flat top:

tumblr_meu4g7b4yT1rvp12nhe has a big ol ignorant nose.
i love that shit.
well arlen happens to be straight and dating a pretty brown skin vixen as well.
he has some pretty big shoes to fill playing bobby brown.
i hope he nails it.
…oh and deborah cox will be singing all of whitney’s songs.
since the family has blocked the use of whitney’s vocals for the movie,
they are having her do over all her songs.
this is a snippet of her singing,
“i will always love you”:

oh shit.
not bad deb.
not bad at all.
you know thats auntie right there!

lowkey: they all better do a good job with this movie.
like oscar worthy acting and directing.
i’m talking to you auntie ang.
it seems like everyone is pretty against it.

  1. Getting my life from this post Jamari! I thought he was too light when I first saw the pics but now I’m becoming more convinced they’re choosing acting SKILL vs likeness which is a good sign for the biopic.

  2. Why is her family against it again? I mean it’s being directed by one of the greatest actresses of our time. Is Cissy really against it or is it just Pat?

  3. yaya will do great she was awesome in the butler….great choice for bobby brown…LAWD he’s my type i love full noses and full lips…GOD i love black men *sigh*

    1. Malcolm, I’m with you. I like black/African features-dark skin, broad noses, full lips and strong/nappy/tightly coiled hair. And I don’t like white/European features–pale skin, pointy noses, thin lips and stringy hair. Those features are not attractive to me at all. Yuck!

Frankly, I can’t imagine how pale skin is preferred to dark skin. I cant’ imagine how pointy noses are preferred to broad noses. I can’t imagine how thin lips are preferred to full lips. And I can’t imagine how stringy hair is preferred to strong/nappy/tightly coiled hair. But a person can be brainwashed to believe almost anything! Steven Biko said that the greatest weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. How true!

But those features are the “standard” and there are many self-hating, anti-black African American racists who prefer such yucky features!

  4. I’m really excited for this movie, Whitney is my favorite singer no one come close to having the vocals see had. I’m a fan if YaYa and I’ve been impressed with how she has made her acting career flourish over the past few years. It’s kind of a number we won’t be ably to hear Whitney’s voice but that’s because of her family blocking so I’m glad they went with a singer who can Sang. I have hope for this movie.

  5. This movie looks like they’re actually strategizing. Deborah may not be Whitney, but she has a powerful chest voice and still has it!

  6. Two things: 1. When I first saw the picture of the guy to play Bobby Brown my first impression was that he’s too attractive to play Bobby Brown. But you posted a picture of Bobby Brown above and I realize that I had forgotten how attractive Bobby Brown used to be. Thanks for posting the old picture of Bobby Brown. 2. Deborah Cox does a good job of singing in the style of Whitney Houston but it goes without saying that Whitney Houston was better. Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross–among others like Celine Dion (who is still alive)–had voices in their prime that were without par.

    1. ^as well as mariahs.
no one can do their songs and ever do it like the originial.
i think ruben studdard sung a luther song and it sounded decent.
can’t remember off the top of my head.
i remember when trey songz tried to sing “purple rain” at the bet awards…

      prince wasn’t happy at all.

  7. Good choice, not to mention how attractive he is. Hopefully he plays the part well.
