Knicks JR Smith Does An Alley “OOPS” To The Slammer

“They should have never given these niggas money to not pay their bills with!”

Miami Beach police say New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith has been arrested on a bench warrant for not having a valid driver’s license.

Sgt. Bobby Hernandez says 26-year-old Smith was stopped Thursday night on Washington Avenue in South Beach. A routine search revealed the bench warrant and he was arrested.

Details were not immediately available on what led police to stop Smith around 8:30 p.m.

Hernandez says Smith was taken to the Miami-Dade County jail, where officials say he bonded out early Friday.

I really need this situation to never happen again from a man with the salary of:

US$ 2,500,000 (2012)

  1. that salary is for a full season…it was adjusted for the shortened season (lockout), and then prorated for the time he was in China. Probably a little less than a mil after that and taxes.

  2. The police dont play down here, especially during memorial weekend…. you can get arrested in an instance….

  3. Not his assistant’s fault. He’s a grown ass man. He knows when he doesn’t have a license.

    1. ^shouldn’t the personal assistant be making sure he stays out of jail?
Checking his shit and making sure he is together before?
A lot of artists, sadly, depend on their assistants to make sure their head is screwed on properly.

      1. I guess so.

But the idea of a grown adult not having the wherewithal to think to themselves, “Hey, my license isn’t valid. Maybe I shouldn’t be driving,” is a ridiculous thought to me. Ridiculous almost to the point of being absurd.

      2. Staying out of jail is common sense Jamari, a person should not need a personal assistant for that. Any human being knows driving with out a lecense is illegal.

      3. It depends if he told his assistant. They may not know to make an appointment for him. And this is assuming that JR has a competent one (if he has an assistant at all), and not Pookie, Nuk Nuk or nem…

  4. It’s not the personal assistant’s fault. He/she only does what they are told/hired to do. Keeping their employer out of jail is not in the contract. He/she is probably the one who paid the bond.

Those tats are a mess. When you’re in such a business, no one really cares about your ink, unless it affects your work or their money. So we will continue to see these celebrated individuals adorn themselves with this “art.”
