I Want To Go To The BET Awards 2012!

… although could they have Beyonce, Jay Z, and Kanye on the nominees list anymore?
And why don’t they just hand the award to Nicki Minaj?
WTF is up with that Video of the Year category?

Jamari is lost.

The nominations for the BET Awards ’12 were announced today at a press conference in New York. Find out which artists, athletes, and actors scored nods.

Beyoncé scored two nominations in the coveted Video of the Year category for “Countdown” and “Love on Top.” She will compete against Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Ni**as in Paris” and “Otis” as well as Usher’s “Climax.”

Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown will perform at the 12th annual show, while the Cadillac Lifetime Achievement will be presented to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, who will also take the stage.

Samuel L. Jackson has been tapped as host. The BET Awards ’12 will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on July 1. Check below for a full list of nominees.

  1. That male ” hiphop” list looks like a gay fruity orgy. All weak asses in the name of hardcore rappers as nominees

  2. Jamari, actually I have been a couple of times, and it was good until they started having it at the Shrine, BET is so cheap, it was a much better show when they had it in Hollywood. The Shrine is just old and raggedy and not worthy of such a honor(sarcasm) I usually just go to LA during this time of the year just to hang out and party and skip the awards. Everybody is in town during this so you can just hang out at Hollywood hot spots and see Baller, Actor, and Rapper Wolves all day. Just rent you a luxury vehicle and dress nice and you will be surprised how easy it is to get into parties. If you are really in the know, its rumored that its always a Hot Downlow party going on during this time. You really can not tell what is going on with men in LA it seems like they all get down. If you dont make it too the awards at least treat yourself to the LA experience, I think this is the only time of year that you actually see many hot black dudes in LA. Post up in the Beverly Center Mall, Roscoes, and the 24HR Fitness in Ladera Heights, and you are guaranteed a good time.

  3. This year, I hope the performaces are off the chain. I want to go, but that won’t happen until after college when my loans are paid off.

  4. They are so desperate for Beyonce to be there this year.lol…I would love to see her, Jay & Kanye perform Lift Off though. What ever she performs though I know she will shut it down. I think Rihanna should perform this year too, since she is always nominated for best female R&B artist (?) yet i don’t think i have ever seen her perform their. Hopefully the same ole same ole people won’t be perfoming too…Like can A$AP perform please? Or maybe Ciara can make a surprise performance of her “comback” single…just something different ya know? Good luck getting your tickets Jamari! 🙂

  5. I like the fact they now have the Centric award. So many of the artists that go in that category get no love because of the popularity of mainstream “artistry”.
That said, they nominate artists like Beyonce and Kanye because it pretty much guarantees a performance. And everyone knows, like her or not, Beyonce pulls in the viewers.
