I Made It Pretty Far Fucking and Swallowing The Right People

i went out last night…

BIG SIGH.

ima get right into it.
is every black man in NY a:

singer.
songwriter.
producer.
rapper.
model.
personal trainer.
athlete.
stylist.

?

i don’t think i have met a doctor, lawyer, or engineer in the last couple years.
i don’t even think i have met someone who wants to be behind the scenes either.
ialways meet wannabe stars and hood stars.
many of them who happen to be gay and trying to front.
or, many of them willing to be gay so they can be in front.
now granted i do work in the industry,
but it kills me the abundance of blown up heads because you have a EP.
the fact you dressed your friend automatically made you a stylist.
the fact you always winning in Rucker Park makes you a baller wolf.
or, the fact you take good pictures makes you a model.
some have talent.
some don’t.
who will make it?

i started to wonder…

Why is everyone trying to be a “star“?

so i met up with a few people and went out to a spot last night.
it was a little get together a friend of mine was having before she went off to college.
i was introduced to a couple people,
and then this one wolf who was fine as shit.
he had the “light skin” look, the tatted body, and the hunger in his eyes.
now, by hunger i don’t mean wanting to rip my clothes off.
but, he was a “something“.
i was waiting for it.
i can tell these days.
after i got my introduction,
my homegirl mentioned to him what i did….
….and it was off to the races.
he was a singer.
he told him his whole life story as i sat at the bar.
he also told me he was dropping an EP in the fall and i should come out to his show.
he gave me compliments and licked his lips as he spoke.
seen it all before.
as he was talking, i got on google and started researching.
(i’ll talk about the importance of this later)

not signed.
independent.
he had a ton of twitter followers,
but who doesn’t when you look good and can sing?
over it.
he even sung for us outside.
again, sounded good but heard it all before.

i could have had him on the strength of he looked like the type to do whatever to be put on.
one thing i learned is to keep your reputation clean in this business.
do not hop on every dick, pussy, or ass because they flirting with you.
try to keep “fucking the artists” to a minimum.
if you do, keep it to a 3 or less.
they are nothing but talented prostitutes.
judging from some of the big names
(and their rumors i can confirm)
in the business already,
you already know who fucked/swallowed who and got where.

but, i started to wonder who are all these “someones“.
are they really someone?
or, are they just trying to be to fulfill this fantasy of being in the spotlight?
worst is when they are acting conceited for no reason.
i always ask myself which one of these people will actually make it?
sure the music is good,
but there is so much competition in NY that you CAN get lost in the shuffle.
what happened to people with careers outside the industry?
i know people who went to college, graduated, and became wannabe rappers.
“fuck all that money to payback in college loans….
let’s become hood stars for popularity and pussy (both ways)!”
and if you are losing more money than you are investing,
this “career” is a bust.
you can’t always get shit for free because sooner or later,
you will have to pay back.

i had to ask…

Are these niggas living in a pipe dream?

  1. Lol, that personal trainer thing is really true. There are tons and tons of them on social media all acting like their program is the one true thing that will get you fit. When honestly, the key to having a great body is low self-esteem. Im realizing the worse one feels about their appearance, the more motivated they are to engage in activities that will make them look a certain way. People who genuinely feel satisfied with their appearance don’t have a reason to count carbs and have strict work out regimens in efforts to look good in photos for other’s to see.

But anyway, i think this surge in wanna-be celebrities comes from people’s basic need of wanting approval. You find validation in applauses and likes and comments. You just want people to know you exist and show you that they like you. So we choose options that will allow us to succeed in these realms that are dictated by the thumbs up or down of large groups of people. We are also bombarded by images of people who we are meant to measure ourselves against. So we take the bait and do all that we can to become like these “celebrities” and live the parts of the lifestyle that they show us. Images of superficial things that can easily be contrived and manipulated. You aren’t of value if you do not look like this (appearance). You are not of value if you do not own these items (wealth). You are not of value if you do not have these many followers on your social media accounts (others’ approval). These are things that we are directly or indirectly told. We are just following along…

    1. I wanted to say something..until I read UrSoVain’s post….as well stated as can be, THANK YOU, BEAUTIFULLY SPOKEN AND TRUE!

  2. like i always say – this is the test to know if someone REALLY looks good.

Clothe her up – if she still would look good without showing ass/tits (or body in udes cases) then points

Picture them fat – if s/he would still look good even if you picture them with some weight then damn straight they are looking good

Picture their hair messy – without waves/bangs/weave/hair cut/shape up will they still look as GOOD as you think they look

Make them swagless – most times people fall for charisma (or the pretense otherwise), if this person was swagless, would they still be good looking..

if yes to all, then the person is an ULTIMATE 10.

  3. Jamari, since these celeb rumors seem to be “OPEN secrets” in the industry, is the fronting just for maintaining a image or real denial?

      1. this is hilarious, jamari i dont want anyone to stop either, shitt i need to have the option to find a couple top notch model bitches and niggas willing to spread that ass open for me one i complete my PhD and start my income. I LOVEEE THEM, I LOVE em for their foolishness and truth be told, i would rather keep them dumber!

  4. Thanks to social media(the internet) and reality TV, the entertainment industry has gone to shit, Its a never ending cycle of fuckery. I wish people who are successful would stop pumping these people head up about following your dreams and never giving up because they know damn well they dont want to give up their position for some no talent wannabe, everybody is not meant to sing, rap, model and act, you may have other talents like the best doctor in town, best teacher etc, be well rounded and share those talents; the world could use them more than seeing your pretty face, or hearing your off key voice. If you have genuine talent it will shine through, you dont have to release naked photo’s and sex tapes on Worldstar, you dont have to make thirsty moves on Twitter for attention, or do crazy stunts and antics to separate yourself from other thirsty attention whores.

  5. I know exactly what you are talking about Jamari b/c I live in NYC, as well. A lot of these ppl have this illusion that they are destine to be famous and act as if they are some celebrity. When the fact is there is nothing special about them both looks and talent wise and they come a dime a dozen. They lack personality and charisma and try to pass it off as swag when if you have common sense can see through the bs. A lot of these ppl are so busy trying to be known that they have nothing but a ton of twitter, instagram, and facebook followers. I work trance industry, as well, and ppl do not understand that sleeping with every Tom, Dick, and Harry is NOT going to make you the next superstar, it is goin to make you the next pass around until someone else who is more desperate than them comes around and they are thrown to the wayside. B/c at the end of the day by sleeping with all these ppl NOBODY is going to respect you and when someone does my respect they are NOT going to work with or for you.

  6. Everyone gets a couple followers & they think they’re an Internet star/Twitter model/etc. Social media has made the world smaller, yet interactions are much more shallow; and when did we become a place that rewards bad behavior? SMH

    1. we love to see people in a delusional rut, it’s the intrinsic sado-masochistic way of reasoning, look at lozada and ochocinco, im sure he could not beleive how INSTANT the hate became, he must have been deluding himself that those people who were alwaysss on his dick will still be when he falls…lies, we all just want to see a nobody who thinks he is, try to rise and massively fall, we want to say oh look, its the guy from instagram wih 40000 likes, damn he’s the janitor?

  7. Everyone wants to be a star because they want to be noticed. That’s really what it is all about. Just look at some of the famous people today, they are only famous because they did one big thing that caught everyones attention. People are just willing to do what ever it takes to “make it.” What people fail to realize is people have been sleeping their way up to the top for years, this is not nothing new. It’s just now coming to light.

  8. We live in an age where attention whoring is at an all time high. Everyone wants to be their own boss and make their own rules when it just isn’t meant to be. If I meet one more personal trainer I am going to SCREAM! I swear every dude with a little bit of body is a trainer and they have zero consistent clients and they would’ve been in the gym taking instagram pics anyway. The shit is laughable.

    1. ^i feel like that about singers, rappers, stylists, and models.
      how are you a stylist,
      you have dressed no one,
but you wearing every thing in your wardrobe like a sign?

  9. Damn Jamari, I was just thinking this the other day. I think we can blame this wannabe-celebrity culture on 2 things. First, everyone thinks they can be an overnight celebrity. They see shows like American Idol, X-Factor, ANTM, etc, and they honestly believe if they meet the right person, they’ll be a star. Even if they have no talent, they’ll at least settle for being a non-talented celebrity like Josselin, Evelyn, or SupaHead. Second, they see celebs with their Bentleys, jewels, and designer clothes, but they don’t see the really rich people who writing their checks. For example, Jay-Z owns 1/3 of 1 percent of the Nets. But not a lot of people know about Mikhail Dmitrievitch Prokhorov. This Russian nigga went to school to be an economist, made lots of money in oil, is worth $15 billion, and owns 80% of the Nets, compared to Jigga’s .067%. But I guess he’s a loser since he doesn’t have a reality show, or doesn’t have a condo on his wrist.
