Harriet Tubman Will Be On Twenty

12405018-standardwell this a great day for “us”.
andrew jackson OUT.
harriet tubman IN.
what am i talking about?
well check it out via politico

Harriet Tubman will bump Andrew Jackson from the front of the $20 bill while Alexander Hamilton will stay put on the $10 — a historic move that gives a woman prime placement on U.S. currency and quells a controversy kicked up by Hamilton super-fans.

“Today, I’m excited to announce that for the first time in more than a century, the front of our currency will feature the portrait of a woman, Harriet Tubman, on the $20 note,” Treasury Secretary Jack Lew told reporters during a conference call Wednesday afternoon.

Lew rolled out sweeping changes that will put a new cast of historic figures onto various bills that have remained largely static for decades. Leaders of the women’s suffrage movement will make their way onto the back of the $10 bill, while civil rights era leaders and other important moments in American history will be incorporated into the $5 bill. Jackson will be kicked to the back of the $20 bill.

i was so fascinated by her story.

i really love that blacks are winning these days.
why do i feel like when these things happen,

  1. well she’s only on the front he’s still on the back is the part that has been left out.

    1. Yea, it is not like he is being totally erased. People are thinking he will not be on the bill at all. I guess any step forward is progress.

  2. That asshole Ben Carson told Fox they shouldn’t take (slave holder)Andrew Jackson off the $20.Instead they should put her on the $2 bill. Then again this is the idiot who said Obama care is worse than slavery.

As for Harriet appearing on the $20.I choose to look at it this way.At some point in history Harriet was seen as “property” now her image will be on the currency we use to purchase property.

  3. Historical!!! & the Strippers GIF is hilariously accurate… But JFOX WHATA BOUT DAT NEW RI-RI VIDEO!?!?!

  4. Chile, bye. Symbolism is always used to appease us Black ppl and we feel as if we are really moving forward without tangibles, but conversation. Give me reparations – or nothing at all. Harriet was also very anti capitalism, so I believe this alone is a slap to what she embodied as a being in the first place, but keep being happy that the same bill she is on will still be used to oppress her own ppl.

    1. Hm! Interesting perspective! Thought provoking…
Got me thinking about optics are used by the government in general to appease it’s people. The candidates in your current election certainly prove this point. Makes you think about what is really important, and who you’re ACTUALLY voting for…hm.

  5. Wow! Amazing!

…secretly watching and waiting for the obligatory trap song aptly named, ‘we made it’ or ‘we the best’ about the come up. Sigh. 😒 #MYpeople
    Lol.

    A GREAT day, no doubt!

  6. Excited to hear this, not excited for the white (or black) celebrity that will publicly have a problem with this. Ya know it’s coming

  7. As much as I am elated that one of our own is on our money (it really is a monumental feat), I would rather see justice and equality for all of our people being executed by the police. I hope that we don’t let this small victory pacify us and keep us distracted to what’s really going on in this country.
