frank ocean wants you getting it in with prep+ tonight

frank ocean wants to make sure you’re all having safe sex.
he knows you like to club as well,
so why not involve the two?
i hope this is the case with a party he’s throwing in the city tonight.
you’ll never guess what he’s calling it…

Frank Ocean is debuting a new club night in New York tomorrow (October 17th) called PrEP+. Named after the HIV prevention drug, the club night is presented by Blonded. Notably, the flyer for PrEP+ says ‘THE WORLD’ at the bottom, possibly a reference to the influential and radical queer nightclub of the same name in Manhattan’s East Village that closed in 1991.

Per a press release, “PrEP+ is the first in a series of nights; an ongoing safe space made to bring people together and dance. PrEP+ will welcome globally celebrated DJs. PrEP+ welcomes everyone.” The release notes that the event is called PrEP+ in homage to to New York’s 80s and 90s club scene, and what it could have been if PrEP had been invented in that era. According to the post, “Ticket links have been distributed” and the venue will be announced on the night of the event. No photos or videos are allowed in the venue, consent is mandatory, and no racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, or discrimination in any form will be tolerated.

i’m into it.
even tho prep is a whole issue,
i’m glad he is focusing on safe sex.
folks are way too reckless out here.
if any of the foxhole go,
please let me know what the vibes was giving.
i know the mixxy industry straights i know are gonna pass,
but i’d love to know what the foxhole can pour for us.

lowkey: all the good industry events are usually during the week.
the locals and foreigners party in the clubs on weekends.

  1. I’m all down for promoting safer sex and PrEP, so props to Frank Ocean.

BTW, STIs rates are rising these days, so please, brothas and sistas, get tested & consider wrapping it up.

BTW2, I don’t get the blond thing but each to his own.

  2. Sounds nice of him. I’m always down with safe sex. That was during the time of the AIDS epidemic. We lost a lot of LGBT and even straight folks to it.

I remember TLC changed up the messages in their songs from being a freak to wrapping it up.

That’s one thing I do miss about past artists. The spoke on real issues within the community and the world and sung about it.

I like what Frank Ocean has going on here though for the most part.

  3. Frank recently did an interview in W Magazine and they asked him what he was working on and he mentioned club music, dance, techno, etc. So some people have speculated he may debut some of his new music at this party and maybe they will do so PrEP education/awareness also. But who knows ☺

  4. “…consent is mandatory, and no racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, or discrimination in any form will be tolerated.”

Can someone fill me in here, is this like a sex club orgy thing? I don’t quite get what’s being promoted here.
