He had teenage boys following him too but ever since the whole Vinny situation he has had more gays on his radar. So as far as the “younger audience”, he was already popular.
Me and Deven are the same age (20/21) so I saw his come-up. He’s friends with BlameitonKway too and appeared in one of his skits which also propelled his followers. But he already had a huge following because he is an insta hoe. He posts half-naked pics on IG everyday. That boosted his popularity.
He was in a “relationship” with this popular Asian influencer. This was before Vinny.

He is a stunt-queen which intrigues people. He likes to make his life seem bigger than what it is, he’s a thot, always in some sort of mess, and he is “arguably” nice to look at. That altogether may play in a combination as to why people keep up with him. He was also in the teen shaderoom, not main shaderoom. Teen shaderoom usually post IG influencers and YouTubers so all you need is a huge following to get featured on that page.
These comments are hilarious and I won’t repeat what’s already been said, but Devon is one of those guys who stirs controversy much like Odell Beckham. His sexual ambiguity intrigues even the straight folks thus garnering him the attention of social media both gay and straight. Personally, I think he looks like a baboon with Kylie Jenner lipstick. I respect peoples honestly its interesting to see how we’re still affected by colorism in our society. While I do think him having a lite complexion might contribute to his attractiveness to be honest I think it has more to do with his age, his has that youth energy that surrounds him when you add his body to the mixed and you can definitely see why people find him attractive, although for me he would need a better hairstyle; but if we’re going to be honest if you took a dark skin guy with the same body type and energy I think people would find him attractive too.
I think the key is age, it might just be me, but lights skin people don’t seem to age that well especially compared to there dark skin counterparts. Aside from Ginuwine and maybe Will smith on a good day I don’t know any light skin men over 40 who still look good like that compared to Tyrese , Taye digs, Morris Chestnut , Sterling K Brown all of whom are over 40 and still look good.
I mean even take Chris Brown….. yeah he is still attractive but he seems to be losing something with age but then you look at Trey Songz who seems to be getting better with age
I agree man. I don’t think him being lightskinned gives him an upper hand in popularity. There are a lot of young, musclular (and cuter) lightskinned guys on the instagram and that has gotten them nowhere.
I think Shamar Moore aged ok, there are some lightskinned dudes that age well.

It’s no questions his skin color is a factor but the biggest draw point is his body & gay men’s appeal over straight men. That’s the main reason he is so popular because it feels the “he on the low” or “is he messing around with..” fantasy.

the obsession is obvious..deven is young, physically fit and light skinned. As for his pro basketball league career…it does not exist. A quick background check will reveal he is not associated with any Euroleague basketball team.
