Adrian Peterson: The Next Example In “Career Gon’ Bye Bye”?

Green Bay Packers v Minnesota Vikingsirony is interesting.
just over a year ago,
nfl baller wolf adrian peterson,
lost one of his random kids to child abuse.
now this year,
in a twist i didn’t see coming,
he may lose his career for the very same thing.
i guess all that holy behavior didn’t make him immune to scandal.
adrian peterson is now front and center in another scandal.
one that involves whippin his child with a switch.
simple enough right?
well not exactly…

Minnesota Vikings superstar Adrian Peterson has been indicted for child abuse in North Montgomery County, TX … TMZ Sports has learned.

Sources connected to Peterson tell us … the alleged victim is a male child from Minnesota who was visiting Adrian back in May at AP’s home in Texas.

We’re told the child returned home to his mother in Minn. who noticed injuries and took the child to a doctor. A short time later, the doctor contacted authorities in Texas to report Adrian.

Child Protective Services confirms it is working on a case involving Peterson. Multiple sources tell us the alleged victim is a 4-year-old boy.

Peterson was indicted in Montgomery County for reckless or negligent injury to a child, this according to MyFOX Houston 26.

Peterson missed Vikings team practice yesterday — though the team explained it as a “veteran’s day.” Peterson did attend practice today and was said to be laughing and joking on the field.

the timeline update from tmz sports is the craziest tho.
the texts he sent the baby mama<<<<<<
i’m sure she was lookin’ at her child’s body like “WTF?”:

4:12 PM PT — According to the police report, Peterson allegedly sent text messages to the child’s mother saying he “felt bad” because he struck the kid in the testicles.

“Got him in the nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I’m all tearing that butt up when needed!” the text said.

Peterson allegedly sent a follow up text saying, “Never do I go overboard! But all my kids will know, hey daddy has he biggest heart but don’t play no games when it comes to acting right.”

4:10 PM PT — According to the police report, the child told authorities he had also been hit by a belt and there were “a lot of belts in daddy’s closet.”

The child also said AP had put leaves in his mouth when he was being struck and that his pants were down.

3:50 PM PT — The Vikings have deactivated Peterson for Sunday’s game.

3:34 PM PT — Peterson has issued a statement through his lawyer saying, “The charged conduct involves using a switch to spank his son.”

“This indictment follows Adrian’s full cooperation with authorities who have been looking into this matter. Adrian is a loving father who used his judgement as a parent to discipline his son.”

“He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in East Texas. Adrian has never hidden from what happened.”

“He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours.”

“Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning. It is important to remember that Adrian never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury.”

3:00 PM PT — The police report on the case includes photos of cuts on the boy’s thigh and hands.

He also had bruises on his lower back and buttocks, and according to the report … Peterson admitted punishing him.

One law enforcement source tells TMZ … Peterson decided to discipline his son by grabbing a branch from a tree — and then whipping the child on his bare skin. We’re told several of the wounds were bleeding when the child went back to his mother.

2:31 PM PT — The Vikings have issued a statement saying … “The Vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson.”

“At this time, we will defer further questions to Adrian’s attorney Rusty Hardin.”

this is no way in the same form as the “ray rice” scandal,
but it is a potential shit storm because it involves a cub.
a 4 year old cub at that.
my gut says that adrian didn’t do it in malice,
and i don’t think he is crazy,
but he did go ODee on the ass whuppin’.
listen when i was getting my ass kicked by my parents,
the most i got was a couple welts.
i did dodge that vase being thrown at me rather nicely tho.
thing is,
i was around the 7-10 age range.
plus i was a fuckin’ bad ass cub whose mouth got him into trouble.
a lot of my “foot to ass” resuscitation was my own fault at times.

i’ll definitely keep my nose in this scandal.

lowkey: the nfl just started and its just having the best week ever.

  1. Back as most of us were growing up we were whipped with things, but now the law is such as it is. When disciplined was allowed throughout without any problem there were less issues among children. Today, that is why there is hardly any control and the children can run rampant. Leaving marks on a child and that can be seen every individual who see them can report it. Adrian Peterson has just gotten himself in deep shit and every thing he has done has started to come out to the public.

  2. My parents used a switch to punish/disciple children in my family. Heck, my parents (likely like their parents) would make us go get the switch out of the tree and then us it on us. My parents never broke the skin of their children but would sometimes leave welps and his child is only 4 years old. Adrian Peterson seems to have gone at least a bit overboard but I don’t think that he should be prosecuted. He should be given a talking to about going to far and perhaps ordered to take some parenting classes.

  3. So his other son was “whupped” to death last year and he not only beats this child with a switch but he punches him with his fist according to the boy.SMH
Just because your parents used to beat you like a slave doesnt make it right.Husbands could legally rape their wives years ago.It is still wrong IMO.I was raised in Houston and Im tired of reading this is normal in the south.A good parent wouldnt leave a four your old cut and bloody. Those pics were taken seven days after the incident, what did the baby look like right after the whupping?

    1. Thank you. The people saying that this is normal are wrong, and they were NOT four years old getting beaten like that. I don’t believe that. Lies. What could a four year old do to deserve the beating this kid got? Nothing. If this was their child returning home from visitation they would be filing a report faster than lighting. Yea because when the kid goes to school and those wounds itch and the child has to visit the nurse, all bets are off and social services will be to your door. Then neither parent ends up with the child and someone ends up going to jail. It does happen.

  4. The things I’ve been whooped with. Switch, belt, extension cord, flip flops, hell a wet towl. It sounds like that vixen wants money

  5. Yea I believe he did it. I always thought Adrian wasn’t wrapped to tight. You can’t leave marks on your children. Burns, cuts, bruises are uncalled for. This child is four, all you need is your hand.

    1. If you recall a year or so ago his meltdown in a Houston Bar beating someone to a pulp. He definitely has anger issues and like former NFL player Larry Johnson is charming in public but ……

  6. Sorry not buying it! I’ve seen AP many times at the barbershop with his sons and he’s a very doting father. Always pleasant and taking pics with everyone.

Would the child’s mother rather he get charged with child abuse and not be allowed to see him again? That would mean he shouldn’t have to support him either.

Shit, everyone’s saying he’s only 4 like 4 year olds can’t be bad as hell. I work with 4 year olds that abuse animals and will bite you. I applaud all parents that administer any form of discipline (including spanking) that works! Too many parents letting the tv and video games raise their kids.

    1. No offense, but you’re fucked up. Just because someone smile and say hello every morning doesn’t mean they are a good person. You don’t live with them, so you don’t who they really are. You’re an abuser are you?

  7. Lets see if the spare the rod spoil the child, Right Wing Christians come out in support of this Black man who so proudly proclaims his faith any chance he gets. Even though many of us grew up getting our ass beat, its not going to fly in 2014. So many studies have been published on discipline that the mindset has changed in our country regarding corporal punishment. This was clearly physical abuse and people have been charged and sentenced to prison for this type of punishment to children. He is lawyered up so he is probably going to beat this case but this is the last thing the NFL needs with the Ray Rice incident. The NFL wants all these perfect exemplary athletes off the field but wants them to bring the hurt and pain on the field and from the looks of it, many just cant turn it off. This is just a bad look for him especially with the release of the pictures. Child Abuse advocates are going to have a fit if this is swept under the rug. Trust me when I tell you, that children and pets are not to be messed with in America. This year of the NFL has already turned into a public relation nightmare and we are not even a good month into the season #FixItJesus
