It’s Safe To Say That Frank Ocean Won’t Be At The Grammys Tonight?

with the way he is carrying on…
so frank ocean is mad.
why?
 ken ehrlich,
who is the grammys producer and the show writer,
david wild.
well ken,
don’t know how david got involved,
criticized his performance in 2013 with a quote in rolling stone.
this is what ken said:

“We executed his vision knowing that it was faulty,” Ehrlich said of Ocean’s 2013 showing. “And we tried to tell him that, we tried to tell his management that, we tried to tell the record label that. So, his feelings about the Grammys right now, I would imagine, probably go back to that in one way. But honestly, it wasn’t us.”

classy response?
well frank took to his tumblr in a “kanye west” type rant.
this is what he fonted

Ok Ken (and David). As much as I hate to make you guys famous or even respond to you directly. We all die one day and you’re old so fuck it. Yea yea my 2013 performance at the Grammys was absolute shit. Technical difficulties, blah blah. Thanks for the reminder. Very much appreciated. Fuck that performance though. You think that’s why I kept my work out of the Grammy process this year? Don’t you think I would’ve wanted to play the show to ‘redeem’ myself if I felt that way? In reality, I actually wanted to participate in honoring Prince on the show but then I figured my best tribute to that man’s legacy would be to continue to be myself out here and to be successful. Winning a TV award doesn’t christen me successful. It took me some time to learn that. I bought all my masters back last year in the prime of my career, that’s successful. Blonde sold a million plus without a label, that’s successful. I am young, black, gifted and independent.. that’s my tribute. I’ve actually been tuning into CBS around this time of year for a while to see who gets the top honor and you know what’s really not ‘great TV’ guys? 1989 getting album of the year over To Pimp A Butterfly. Hands down one of the most ‘faulty’ TV moments I’ve seen. Believe the people. Believe the ones who’d rather watch select performances from your program on YouTube the day after because your show puts them to sleep. Use the old gramophone to actually listen bro, I’m one of the best alive. And if you’re up for a discussion about the cultural bias and general nerve damage the show you produce suffers from then I’m all for it. Have a good night.

um…
humble yourself frank.
as much as you are “it” right now,
the tides do have a way of turning.
i’m all for a good rant,
but it wasn’t like they were disrespectful.
many who saw the performance said the same.
they said even worse about “blonde”.
i like frank,
but he could have kept this one for his personal.
you don’t want to attend,
then fine,
but don’t go burning bridges.

lowkey: it seems a lot of artists are skipping the grammys tonight.
allegedly drake,
ye,
and justin bieber.
they say it’s “out of touch”.
the line up looks boring tbh.
i might skip it too.

I understand his reason for not submitting his album for the Grammy nominations but it seems like he’s drinking the Kanye cool-aid. He’s talented but overrated in my opinion.

He could have said it better but Ken is implying he didn’t submit Blonde because he is upset about that performance. He is basically saying he is blaming them. When has he ever said it was the producers fault? He explained his feeling about the Grammys in NYTimes interview. He said he didn’t submit it because it feels the show fails to represent black artists.Especially for Album of the Year.No black artist has won in that category in almost 10 years since Herbie Hancock won.

Anyway congrats to him for selling a million and doing it as an independent artist.

No No he said nothing wrong. They always not just at the “Grammys” mind you but at a lot of award shows, give the lest talented people the awards. They refuse alot of times to get with the times a little. They have not even bother to evolve the Genre’s at this stage which is really a shame. They could just let him sit it out and say the show will go on but they had to run they mouth. So this is one of those time when I do not appreciate humility, I appreciate and love if you read bitch especially a deserving bitch! I know Mr. Fox you not for men calling other men bitches but fit the species.

The Grammy’s are not bothered. Plenty of artists would still give a limb to perform or even be nominated. Plus they’ll always secure the big acts anyway.

Once again, the Recording Academy showed it’s ass. Beyonce, again, did not win AOTY.

    Frank is right.

Solange just linked this rant on her twitter. Right after Adele won.

Well giving how adele won AOTY and couldn’t even accept it because she knew it wasn’t right, it sade to say that frank wasn’t lying. Taylor swift won it twice, i mean twice. When beyonce lost last time people said “it’s not abaout popularity it’s quality”, this time Lemonade was the most acclaimed album and still beyoncé did not win. Anyway congrats to adele, i feel sorry for rihanna, congrats to chance, they gave beyoncé r&n album like every time, still congrats.

And tbh fair the grammy were disrespectful, very passive agressive, dismissing his feelings as “his performance in 2013 was’nt good so he’s just mad”. That’s very belittling.

Drake didn’t skip the Grammys. He’s on tour in Europe. Kanye & Bieber probably knew they weren’t going to win hence their absence. Rihanna should have skipped this to save face lol. Beyonce got 22 Grammys anyway, she has enough already (I love her btw) so the AOTY shouldn’t be a big deal. You know how many artists would die to have at least one Grammy in their career? This heffa got 22! haha

I was wrong in my earlier comment it has only been nine years since a black artist won AOTY.
    Taylor Swift- AOTY 2010,2016
    Adele – AOTY 2012,2017

Congrats to Adele and much respect to her for saying she believes Lemonade should have won.
    That’s life.

  13. The Blonde album was overrated garbage. I’m waiting on Frank to find me through his music, but thus far it’s a nonstarter.

And let same be said of Solance. They cheapened the honor of the Grammy award by gifting one to that no talent big bird looking hoodrat.

Oh that was not nice. Sol-Angel came through with this one. Honestly I never thought she would have a moment like this (BYW she is not channeling Big Bird she is Channeling Classic Diana ‘ala’ Mahogany). Blonde was a bit all over the place. I don’t get mad when artist go off the rails, I tend to just get off the train (Lauryn, India, Erykah Jill etc). When they get back on track I get back on the train though.
