Hi I’m Jamari Fox and I’m “Being Mary Jane”

screen-shot-2014-01-08-at-11-45-08-amwell,
not exactly….
i was watching this week’s episode of “being mary jane”.
the table scene>>>>>>
the speech >>><<<
i really love this show like i love “scandal”.
i love that its not the typical “romeo and juliet” love story.
you know the one:

boy meets girl
she gives him a hard time
he chases her
during this process they all in love
something happens like he cheated on her
they separate
she meets someone else
he tries to win her back by killing a dragon or some shit
she realizes killing a dragon takes effort so she takes him back
all is right in the world

tumblr_lzg194GV7N1qcra4yo1_500nope.
these shows are about an imperfect person in a not so perfect situation.
they realize they’re making mistakes.
i’ve been there.
for some odd reason,
all i meet are wolves who are in relationships.
they get attached to me because:

i like to have fun,
pretty spontaneous
very sexual
intelligent
i listen and make you feel safe
everything that the person there with isn’t or doesn’t do anymore

is it good?
hell naw.
it sucks money balls.
its funny how television today is glorifying being “the side”.
“the side” usually isn’t someone who seeks out men in relationships.
that’s the trifling “man eater” hood version the commoners are use to.
the side is usually someone who has been single for a long time,
connects with that great
“we’re connectin’ and we’re vibin’ and we’re colored!
give god a hi-5!”
kind of man,
and then him admitting over a bowl of italian one night:

“oh btw i’m with someone.
we’ve been together for years.
kids too.
pass the marinara sauce”

tumblr_lweqmxKlZk1ql5yr7o1_400wait, excuse me?
what did you just say?
omg…
if i kill him now,
can i use this as my defense?
at the point,
you are so invested in his ass,
built the relationship up in your mind,
that at this point its hard to let go.
everyone likes to judge since they haven’t been there.
yet.
you are literally at the point of no return.
you are the enemy in the story.
he is the asshole,
but you are the even bigger asshole for allowing it to continue.
not to mention the sex.
god it’s is so damn good.
its that “goodness i was so lonely before this doofus came along” thing…
so yeah.
i like that story.
his story.
her story.
your story.
its an interesting story.
sometimes shit just happens and you get fuckin’ stuck.
i like that these shows are now showing another side of a reality.
not lying to us about affirmations,
positive thinking,
and church single members groups.
well wait you did all that and it brought “him” into your life.
thanks universe!
i owe ya!

tumblr_m3bye7ZAa91qbipv3o1_500these days,
especially in the life,
“ain’t shit” is the reality.
not the fairy tale.

  1. You got that right, Jamari, about the typical plot line:

    boy meets girl
she gives him a hard time
    he chases her
during this process they all in love
something happens like he cheated on her
    they separate
    she meets someone else
he tries to win her back by killing a dragon or some shit
she realizes killing a dragon takes effort so she takes him back
all is right in the world

Maybe you can write the next romantic comedy starting ____________ and ___________ with _________ and _____________ as best friends and/or comedy filler. If you can write it and get it produced, you can make big bucks in movies/TV.

  2. Yeah being the side isn’t for me either, I want ALL of my man not just the private moments but the public ones too.

  3. Mary Jane checked wifey last night. She did that man.

I can’t be the side dude. I want my own man.
